It all kicks off on 1st of January with the ‘Warnemünder Turmleuchten‘. The spectacular New Year’s show with lights, lasers, fireworks and performances attracts tens of thousands of people to the seaside resort every year.
Then in late January/early February, there’s ‘Warnemünder Wintervergnügen’ winter festival on the beach where visitors can enjoy horse races, campfires, live music and all kinds of steaming hot delicacies. Spring brings the annual ‘Stromerwachen’, when members of the ‘Rostocker Seehunde’ club perform their traditional ice swim, while major maritime events such as the Warnemünder Woche and Hanse Sail are regular summer highlights that are definitely not to be missed. Sailing fans and ship lovers in particular can admire a unique spectacle here. Cruise ships are just as much part of Warnemünde as the lighthouse and Alter Strom waterway. And some of these ships are bidden fitting farewells by locals, tourists and passengers during the Warnemünde Port Parties.
Summer gets going with sailing, surfing, kite surfing, hiking or cycling along the Ostseeküstenradweg (Baltic Coast Cycle Path). Meanwhile, the AOK Active Beach and the Sport Beach Arena right on the beach offer the fun and games. And for those who prefer things more chilled out, there are seaside resort concerts, an arts & crafts market, and even romantic sunset cruises.
Autumn and winter are the perfect time to visit the cultural sites and museums in and around Rostock, or unwind at one of the many wellness facilities.
