Pana­jachel - Guatemala

Friend­ship with Ro­s­tock since 2018

Pana­jachel is lo­cated in a beau­ti­ful and pic­turesque nat­ural land­scape on the shore of the lake Atitlán. This city in Guatemala of­fers many fas­ci­nat­ing at­trac­tions, for ex­am­ple the fa­mous But­ter­fly Park, an im­pos­ing wa­ter­fall and two ar­chae­o­log­i­cal mu­se­ums where an­cient Mayan relics from be­fore 1200 BC are ex­hib­ited.

This youngest part­ner of the City of Ro­s­tock lives pri­mar­ily from tourism. There are plenty of restau­rants, pubs, bars and ho­tels. Pana­jachel is also known for its unique hand­i­crafts. The city places par­tic­u­lar em­pha­sis on the de­vel­op­ment of re­gional agri­cul­ture.
