The Free Hanseatic City of Bre­men is also a fed­eral state. Among the sights to see there is the beau­ti­ful City Hall, the seat of the Pres­i­dent of the Sen­ate and of the Mayor. It is one of the most im­por­tant ex­am­ples of brick gothic ar­chi­tec­ture in Eu­rope. The bronze statue de­pict­ing the Bre­men town mu­si­cians, a work of Ger­hard Mar­cks erected in 1953 is fa­mous, as touch­ing the front hooves is said to make wishes come true. Har­bor man­age­ment, ship­ping and lo­gis­tics form the core of the econ­omy in the two-city state.
