Mem­ory Cities

The net­work „Mem­ory Cities“ is an un­of­fi­cial as­so­ci­a­tion founded on the ini­tia­tive of Ro­s­tock’s twin city Dunkirk in 2016. The Net­work gath­ers cities which were largely de­stroyed dur­ing the 1st or the 2nd World War. The net­work aims to de­velop the cul­ture of re­mem­brance and to sup­port sus­tain­able de­vel­op­ment of cities in terms of their cul­tural her­itage.

In ad­di­tion, though an­nual sym­posia, the mem­bers seek to find com­mon so­lu­tions to ad­dress global threats such as ter­ror­ism and war and to de­velop a cul­ture of peace, co­ex­is­tence and mu­tual un­der­stand­ing.
