Memory Cities

The network „Memory Cities“ is an unofficial association founded on the initiative of Rostock’s twin city Dunkirk in 2016. The Network gathers cities which were largely destroyed during the 1st or the 2nd World War. The network aims to develop the culture of remembrance and to support sustainable development of cities in terms of their cultural heritage.

In addition, though annual symposia, the members seek to find common solutions to address global threats such as terrorism and war and to develop a culture of peace, coexistence and mutual understanding.
